Convincing first win for Madibaz

The NMMU-Madibaz opened their Varsity Cup campaign with a convincing win over the FNB UCT Ikey Tigers at the Florida Park Stadium in Cape Town on Monday night.

The visitors outscored the home side five tries to one in a well deserved 36 - 8 win.

The Madibaz scored three first half tries and a penalty to take a comfortable 24 - 3 lead at the break. Luvo Claassen scored the first of the three tries in the 23rd minute. Captain and eighthman Kevin Kaba, who was also named "Player that Rocks" and Matjikinyane Molapo scored the other two tries just before half-time. 

Madibaz added a further two second half tries through Andile Jho and Wynand Grassmann. Simon Bolze kicked four conversions and a first half penalty. 

Final score 36 - 8.
